I’m Brad Alexander and, on behalf of Valutrades, today we will take a look at the NASDAQ (US100), the Nikkei (JP225), USDJPY, and EURUSD.

The markets were assuming that a win by Emmanuel Macron in the French elections would be positive for EUR.Screenshot 2022-04-25 at 11.28.14

Prices opened higher this morning with a gap but have lost those gains quite quickly.Screenshot 2022-04-25 at 11.28.22

We need to look at the weekly chart on EURUSD to see support at $1.07 from 2 years ago.

Overall, the war in Ukraine is negatively affecting EUR and the ECB does not want to raise Interest Rates but watch out for speeches by Christine Lagarde and European GDP figures this week.Screenshot 2022-04-25 at 11.28.31

Also, watch for the Bank of Japan’s Interest Rate decision on Thursday to see if they can stop the downfall of JPY.Screenshot 2022-04-25 at 11.28.37

The daily chart on USDJPY tells the story as the Interest Rate differential between the US and Japan is negative for JPY.Screenshot 2022-04-25 at 11.28.43

As well, the Nikkei continues to fall even though the weaker JPY supports exports, the slowdown in China is not helping.Screenshot 2022-04-25 at 11.28.49

All US Equities are falling, as this chart on the NASDAQ shows, based on global uncertainty and the US Federal Reserve’s ideas on raising Interest Rates.Screenshot 2022-04-25 at 11.28.58

This, of course, has seen USD grow stronger.
