I’m Brad Alexander and in this week’s Market Blast Fundamentals let’s take a look at GBPUSD, EURUSD, USDCAD, Gold (XAUUSD), and the NASDAQ (US100).

Today is a holiday in the UK so the markets are closed to pay respect to our late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

This will be one of the most important weeks in the history of trading as the US Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, and the Swiss National Bank will announce Interest Rate decisions.

As we have been saying for months, the Central Banks have a difficult job in that they have to try to control inflation but not drive economies into recessions.Screenshot 2022-09-19 at 17.03.17

The Fed, for example, may raise Interest Rates by 1% but the market is expecting 0.75%.Screenshot 2022-09-19 at 17.03.25

We can see the reaction to the economic uncertainty by the fall of the NASDAQ, and all the Indices for that matter, over the last month.Screenshot 2022-09-19 at 17.03.33

Last week we warned you not to be fooled by the temporary USD weakness and we hope you listened as the CPI data had the USD flying again.Screenshot 2022-09-19 at 17.03.59

USDCAD is particularly interesting as the strength of USD and the falling price of oil is making CAD weaker.Screenshot 2022-09-19 at 17.04.13

The stronger USD had Gold falling to $1660 which breaks a key level of support into prices that we haven’t seen for over two years.Screenshot 2022-09-19 at 17.04.21

Inflation in the United Kingdom is a huge problem and the Pound continues to fall.

As you saw on the calendar, Andrew Bailey will be announcing the Interest Rate Decision the day after the Fed, so let’s see if this helps.
