S&P 500 Higher on Good US Retail Sales. Webinar Tomorrow: Analysing FX Pairs.

Hey Valutraders! Did you see the big jump on the S&P 500?

I’m Brad Alexander and in this week’s Market Blast Fundamentals let’s take a look at Natural Gas (NatGas), EURGBP, EURUSD, USDJPY, and the S&P 500 (US500).

Last week’s US Retail Sales figures were higher than expected which gave a boost to US equities and all the indices, like the S&P 500, rose.Screenshot 2022-07-18 at 11.42.10

If we look at the Daily chart, we see that we are still in a downtrend and we have a long way to go to get back to the record-high levels.Screenshot 2022-07-18 at 11.42.22

Of course, USD is still marching higher but we saw a pullback on Friday when investors converted USD to equities.

As we can see, there may be quite a few technical opportunities and we will look at these tomorrow.Screenshot 2022-07-18 at 11.43.04

Also, don’t forget to register for tomorrow’s webinar on Analysing Currency Pairs where we have a surprise announcement for you and a new feature from Valutrades.Screenshot 2022-07-18 at 11.43.11

We see mostly weakness with GBP with a struggling economy in the UK and a new Prime Minister to be chosen.

Watch for volatility this week as the next TV debate for candidates occurs today with more voting Wednesday.Screenshot 2022-07-18 at 11.43.24

USDJPY is still incredibly high and we understand that the Bank of Japan may intervene if price action reaches 140, which we haven’t seen since 1998.

They will announce their decision on Interest Rates on Thursday but we don’t expect to see any change.Screenshot 2022-07-18 at 11.43.04

Also, the European Central Bank will announce their decision on the same day and we expect a rise in Interest Rates to try to slow down inflation.Screenshot 2022-07-18 at 11.43.32

Of course, a lot will depend on the price of Natural Gas which is rising again as the Nord Stream 1 pipeline is closed for maintenance and we still have threats from Europe’s main supplier, Russia.Screenshot 2022-07-18 at 11.43.38
